Welcoming A Little One

Just added to the shop, Rubber Ducky Baby Love. 2-color, letterpress printed blank card. We've been in babyland this year, how about you?

The wheels have been turning in the Studio. We are in the process of creating custom letterpress printed stationery, with the option to have your information flat printed by us, or by yourselves. If you enjoy the tactile feel of letterpress, but are on a budget, our new line will be perfect for you!

{Shop Update}

Though it's not as scorching hot as my home town of Los Angeles this month (in the 100s!), we've been having beautiful, comfortable weather here in Seattle. Living here has definitely made me appreciate the nice, sunny days I was so used to in Southern California.

I've been wanting to celebrate this good weather all summer long! As you can tell from my shop updates and posts, I've been influenced by bright and bold colors, tropical beaches, and good old fashioned summer fun...

You can find all of these featured and listing at the shop. Happy Summer!

Hey Stranger!

Time passes by too quickly. Before you know it, it's been months since you've last had dinner and a catch-up session with that good friend. Or you've been playing phone tag, leaving messages and texts postponing that dinner or lunch date. I am guilty of that. Hey Stranger, let's mark our calendars and catch up! (And this time no one will flake!)

Dead On

Usually fortune quotes from cookies are pretty generic. The quote at the top of my blog is actually from a fortune cookie. Today my fortune was pretty dead on.

"Your mind is filled with new ideas. Make use of them"

This happens to be very true! I do have a lot of ideas and so little time it seems to make them real. Here are some new pieces- xoxo and Je T'aime. I am trying to make use of the existing dies I had made. I have not touched my Boxcar base since I sold my Adana. I am thinking am going to try to sell it. I have limited range with that base, as my gauge pins cannot get in the way of the base or it will ruin it. My design has to be no less than 2 inches in size in order for me to get good impression. I usually have to shove it to the side of my base which has the lowest pressure. If you are interested in purchasing my Boxcar base, send me a comment!

The French Collection

Today was 90 degrees! It was hot in my garage, but the heat worked in my favor. My inks were nice with a good consistency, drying quick so I was able to do a 2 color job in one day. I attempted to figure out how to make a solid print with a large solid area by adding tape to the rails of my trucks. It worked.. better than last time. BUT the same issue remains, the shape is still not completely solid, though the coverage is even.

I am having trouble getting full coverage of a solid shape, small or large, with Crane’s Lettra 110#. I have adjusted my rollers, added tape to my truck rails, played with packing, etc. I have a relatively good print, but I can still see some splotches, areas of the Lettra showing through. I followed the advice of others and dampened my paper. This technique worked and gave me full coverage.. now to do the 95 other sheets.

I posted to Briarpress for some advice. There has to be a way. People with C&Ps get great prints all the time!

QOTD(quote of the day): People too weak to follow their dreams, will always find a way to discourage yours.

Red, Black and White.. and a note

Today I was able to finish up the 2nd color of the "Red, Black, and White" gift card set. I was also able to print a one color note card.. I think I will doing this note card is various colors. Since I do not have room for a guillotine, I will have to have to use Lalapress to cut my gift cards to size.

I had some issues with replacing the tongues of my gauge pins. They just would not stay in the slits. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to remedy this, place leave a comment!

Rapid Project Update

This post is a "rapid project update". I've posted pictures of "Going Native" (a 4 blank card w/violet envelope set), and the beginning prints of Christmas 2009. Can you believe I am ahead of schedule?

Currently I am working on printing a 2 color, 4 mini gift card set " Red, Black, and White".
I will post those pictures when they are completed.
